the bradbury stand is the exact place where the science and fantasy league of angels held some of their first meetings in the 1930s. in love with clifton’s fantasy setting (and the free lemonade and sherbet, delicious treats for many of the struggling writers!), the Los Angeles sci-fi community coalesced here and created what is arguably the entire modern genre of sci-fi in literature, film, and television. One can imagine the conversations that took place here, with Star Trek, Star Wars, The Twilight Zone, and just about every other iconic work of science fiction since that time able to trace its roots through this place. it is even said that he Ron hubbard founded scientology here because of a bet he made with bradbury inside clifton!
