why you should make your own cream
The beauty of making your own coffee creamer is that you know exactly what goes into it and how fresh your ingredients are.
- Additives: Store-bought coffee creamers often have a long list of ingredients and often contain unfamiliar preservatives, additives, and artificial flavors. This homemade cream has only 3 ingredients and you probably already have them on hand.
- sweetened to perfection – the homemade creamer is not overly sweet like store bought creamers tend to be and you can even add the condensed milk to taste if you prefer less sweetness.
- delicious: Sweetened condensed milk and real vanilla extract taste amazing with coffee. adding half and half will produce a silky smooth and balanced cup of coffee.
- half and half: Just the right amount of creaminess for a cup of coffee without creating an oily film. half and half is essentially equal parts milk and heavy cream, so you can make your own half and half if you like.
- sweetened condensed milk: Use a standard 14 oz jar. adds a milky sweetness.
- Vanilla Extract – This is optional, but definitely adds a nice layer of flavor to make it a vanilla coffee creamer. homemade vanilla extract is great, but a store-bought real vanilla extract will work here.
- combine half and half, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract in a quart (32 oz) mason jar.
- lid and shake: screw the lid on tightly and shake the cream until well combined (you can also whip it).
- storing: Keep cream covered and refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
- to refrigerate: keep in a sealed jar for up to 2 weeks or until the expiration date of your half and half, so use a new container. Also, as with all dairy products, store the jar on the bottom shelf in the back of your refrigerator where your fridge is coldest. do not store at the door.
- Freezing: Dairy does not freeze well and freezing this coffee creamer is not recommended.
- strawberry sauce
- cherry sauce
- tzatziki sauce
- tartar sauce recipe
- pesto sauce
- homemade hummus
