Besides the blend of amazing ethically sourced coffee from Peru and Brazil, this light/medium roast has its own story. When we started Rootless, the first words out of Sean’s mouth were, “This is really good coffee.” without realizing it, we all looked at each other and said, “good coffee.” A nod to our favorite 90’s cult classic TV series, we immediately decided to call this a great cup of coffee.
best ways to prepare
This blend works perfectly in a standard coffee maker, French press, or pour over. our goal was to be able to have small batch roasted coffee that works in all formats without compromising cupping notes and quality. A damn good cup of coffee is the best coffee we’ve ever had, but it surprises third wave coffee snobs even since mr. coffee. coffee should be accessible, not confusing or polarizing. For us, this is the best light/medium roast coffee.
coarse coffee vs. fine
In our quest to make coffee for everyone, we also offer it in all grind configurations. if you like french press, coarse grind is the best grind setting for coffee. if you like espresso, you’ll want a finer coffee. think of it this way: the larger the plots, the easier it is for water to run through them. the smaller and more compact the plots, the more difficult it is for water to run through them. Even dialing into an espresso machine, this mindset helps you have a perfectly timed shot.
medium roast versus dark roast
We’ll say it again: this is not a dark roast coffee! many people equate “bold brown” with being dark. our philosophy is to let people taste the coffee, not the burn. medium roast and light roast tend to have a little more coffee than dark roast since it is not “roasted.” however, that is not always the case. think of this as coffee for dinner that actually tastes great. if you are interested, you can try our version of a dark roast coffee.
questions and answers
what is medium roast coffee? it’s simply the time, temperature, and roasting method needed to get this perfect blend. not too light, not too dark, just right in the middle. think of it as a juicy “medium” steak. but not meat, that would be weird if it showed up in your bag.
