best french cafes near the eiffel tower
what better place to dine French-style than right after a ride alongside the iconic iron lady? The streets surrounding the Eiffel Tower are lined with traditional French cafes that really give the whole experience that extra something…
These are cafes I would personally recommend (I spend a lot of time in this corner of the woods, in case you didn’t know).

a brief history of French cuisine
brasserie marco in paris
this authentic brasserie found the perfect spot right next to the tower. you can enjoy views of the structure while you drink and dine, and the cafeteria is open from morning to night, seven days a week.
For what it’s worth, this won’t be the most amazing French cuisine you’ll have in Paris. in fact, your food could take over an hour to reach the table. That being said, it’s a great cafe to have a drink, some cake, and enjoy the ever-festive playlist they offer their patrons.

the fontaine de mars in paris
This chic cafe is famous in this neighborhood, identifiable by the baby pink awnings that frame the arched doorways.
Those who know this coffee love it. It is one of the most charming places in the area, and they do a fantastic lunch and dinner menu, also seven days a week. unsurprisingly, this place is packed almost all the time. You’ll need to make a reservation if you really want to sit down and enjoy.
if they’re overwhelmingly full, consider getting takeout and finding a spot in the champ de mars, right in front of the tower.

l’Éclair in paris
When I’m looking for a Parisian getaway without leaving Paris, this is the cafe I go to. it is very welcoming and offers a very different experience to other cafes in this area.
In the morning or in the evening, you’ll enjoy a variety of dynamic dishes that are tailored to the respective mealtime. the food is always good, and their hot drinks come with a little chocolate to sweeten the deal. tip: don’t put the chocolate in your coffee or tea! It seems obvious, but a lot of people make this mistake on the first visit (myself included). it’s meant to be enjoyed as a stand-alone treat and will make your drink incredibly bitter if you add it.

zia in paris
zia is a wonderful cafe furthest from the trocadero side of the eiffel tower. the cuisine is French fused with other western flavours, providing diners with a more varied range of food and drink.
Many would not consider zia a traditionally “French cafe”, but I think the way it works is on a par with most other cafes in the area. plus, there are some great vegetarian options here, something French cafes often lack.

carette in paris
at the opposite end we have the carette, right on the edge of the entrance to the trocadero. carette is as french as it gets and is considered one of the best cafes in all of paris.
Whether you’re looking for breakfast, pastries, brunch, lunch or a three-course dinner menu, carette has it all. You can come here pretty much any time of the day and except for a vibrant buzz of people drinking tea, beers and/or wine.
carette is famous for its hot chocolate…something to keep in mind when you visit.

carmine cafe in paris
cafe carmine is a busy cafe bistro in a charming french setting just outside the eiffel tower. happy hour is every day until 8:00 p.m. m., then the cafeteria is open for a few more hours until closing (2:00 a.m.).
again, this is a place where the time of day seems to fade, and a constant buzz of people is always to be expected. somewhat unexpected though, is that carmine cafe makes really good pizza? super tasty, reasonably priced and all with a view to the iron lady herself… what more could we ask for?
